Just start walking only as quickly as it is possible for you. Do it at your comfort level initially and slowly pick up the pace.
You can do it anywhere. You don’t need a gym, special equipment or training. Just remember to wear comfortable shoes and you are ready for it.
How to walk?
- Start walking slowly either in a park or wherever you choose. Remember, it is not like a lazy stroll in the park. You need to do it consistently with continuous effort to breathe.
- After few minutes (5 min) of walking slowly, pick up the pace for around 10-15 minutes. (If you feel breathless or are gasping for breath, slow it down, and start again.)
- After 10-15 minutes of fast walking, slow it down very mildly. Be sure to slow down the pace gradually for the last 5-10 minutes of your walking.
Gradually work up to 30 minutes. Try to take a brisk walk for a minimum of three times a week.
Caution: Don’t ever stop suddenly, stand or sit to catch your breath. Always, always, slow it down gradually. If you do it right, you won’t face the problem of gasping for breath.
What happens when you walk!
Walking is a natural movement that’s easy on our joints and a weight bearing exercise, hence it helps prevent or slow osteoporosis. Walking, especially for women over 55 years of age is incredibly beneficial. If you make it a part of your lifestyle, walking will not only improve your body, but your mind as well. Here are some other ways in which walking is beneficial:
- Walking improves mental fitness because when we walk we increase blood flow to the brain.
- It prevents the onset of arthritis
- It improves balance which helps reduce the risk of falls
- It decreases the risk of heart disease
- A 20-minute workout can offset fatigue
- Consistent walking is a mood elevator and can help offset depression associated with aging
- Walking can be a time for family bonding and social excursions. Walk to the park with your grandchildren or meet your friends in town for a day of shopping. Enjoy the outdoors.

General Exercise
How often should I exercise?
Beginners (those who have led sedentary lives and never worked out before) should start by working out 3 times a week. After 6 weeks it is safe to increase the intensity of your workout program.
What should I do to lose weight?
Weight gain or loss is impacted not just by exercise but by many factors, including dietary intake and genetics. To lose weight the right way, you need a combination of cardiovascular exercise and strength training together with healthy eating habits.
All individuals will not lose the same amount of weight on the same exercise program. It is possible to be active and overweight. However, although exercise alone cannot guarantee your ideal weight, regular physical activity is one of the most important factors for successful long-term weight management.
Is it ok for women to lift weights? Will it not make them bulky?
Most exercise experts believe that cardiovascular exercise and strength training are both valuable for maintaining a healthy weight. Strength training helps maintain muscle mass and decrease body fat percentage
The women you see in the muscle magazines usually have had some help from steroids or supplements and have been training for years or decades! Since women, by nature, have smaller muscles and much less testosterone than men, it is difficult for them to build large muscles. Women who do build muscle easily are the exception and not the rule. Women who weight train become stronger, firmer, build a higher metabolism, and increase bone density which may help prevent osteoporosis later in life.
Will I lose weight if I go on a diet?
While there are many things you can do to shed pounds, losing weight too quickly, like any sudden change to your body, can be dangerous. While fad diets, diet pills, and fasting may indeed induce rapid weight loss, these methods can cause you to lose muscle and may also injure your heart and other organs fairly quickly. The best solution? Don't go for an overnight miracle. Instead, follow a plan that includes regular physical activity and healthy eating.
How can I drop my belly fat? Will crunches help?
Contrary to what many infomercials preach to us, spot reduction in any region of the body does not work. Abdominal crunches are a great way to increase local muscular endurance but they will not flatten your stomach when done alone. In order to flatten your stomach you must lose fat in the abdominal region. This is done through a combination of cardiovascular training, strength training, and proper nutrition.
I’m not overweight. Why do I need exercise?
Exercise is not just for weight loss. In fact, exercise has a laundry list of benefits –
It improves the ability of insulin to enter cells, so it lowers the risk of diabetes. It also lowers the risk of heart disease by improving blood clotting mechanisms, lowering triglycerides, and raising HDL [‘good’] cholesterol. Exercise alters not only your risk of disease, but your quality of life. Studies show that exercise improved sleep in people with modest sleep dysfunction, that is, people who take a long time to fall sleep or who wake up frequently at night.
The psychological benefits of exercise are also frequently overlooked. Exercise isn’t a panacea, but it has consistently been shown to relieve both depression and anxiety.
Is it true that we gain more weight as we age?
Most people get fatter as they get older, but they don’t have to. .It’s a matter of reduced physical activity levels and lower metabolic rate caused by a loss of lean body mass [muscle]. Starting at age 40 in women and at 60 in men, we lose six to eight percent of our muscle per decade. It’s a very subtle change that begins between ages 20 and 30. The percentage of body fat gradually increases, and it produces an ever-decreasing calorie requirement.
That’s because fat cells burn fewer calories than muscle cells. And a lower metabolic rate means that unless you eat less, you’ll gain weight over the decades.
But exercise can mount a two-pronged attack on middle-age spread and muscle loss. Any activity makes you burn more calories (so you’re less likely to wind up with an excess) and strength-training can offset the loss of muscle mass.
I’ve never exercised when I was young. Is it dangerous to begin an exercise regimen now?
It’s never too late to start an exercise program. Many people think that it’s unsafe because they have heart disease or diabetes or because they’re too out of shape to start.
In a recent study, the participants were frail nursing-home residents whose ages ranged from 72 to 98. After just ten weeks, strength-training improved their muscle strength, ability to climb stairs, and walking speed.
The same goes for people with chronic diseases. People say they can’t exercise because they have arthritis but we see some of the greatest benefits in people with arthritis. Exercise reduces pain and increases range of motion, strength, and mobility.
That doesn’t mean that anyone can plunge into a bout of vigorous exercise, regardless of health history. In a recent study, ordinarily inactive people — especially men who had high cholesterol or angina or were smokers or obese — were ten times more likely to have a heart attack within an hour of exerting themselves (usually by jogging or heavy lifting) than at other times. Anyone with multiple risk factors for heart disease should check with a physician and start slowly.
What is aerobics?
Aerobics is a gym class comprising of 15-20 students, set to music and led by a qualified instructor who will lead you through a variety of structured movements that will raise your heart rate and get blood and oxygen flowing more quickly around your body.
Ms. Dinaz pioneered aerobics in Hyderabad and has been an expert in aerobics for over 15 years. The aerobics programs are designed to ensure better body, mind and soul conditioning, thereby contributing to the overall well-being of clients.
What is dance aerobics?
Dance aerobics are aerobics exercises that are creatively and scientifically choreographed to popular Bollywood and Tollywood tunes. An absolute fat-burner, a dance aerobics program is designed to energize and radically improve fitness levels while having ‘fun’.
Will dance aerobics help me lose weight?
Definitely! Dance aerobics includes a range of movements and exercises that will work on all areas of your body. At Dinaz’s, the instructor will take you through different levels of movement. You'll start with gentle low-intensity warm-up exercises including stretches as well as some light jogging, and stepping. You'll be taken gradually up to high-intensity exercises that will really help you burn calories.
How long will it take to see results in weight loss?
You should begin to feel the results of working out almost immediately. Overall increase in strength and loss of weight take an average of 4 to 6 weeks to achieve, provided the diet plan is strictly adhered to.
What is personal training?
Personal training entitles you to the services of a certified personal fitness trainer who works one-on-one with you to help you work toward a personal fitness goal through proper exercise instruction and personal motivation.
Is personal training better than aerobics classes?
It all depends on your present state of physical fitness and your fitness goals. Personal training might work best for some clients, while group aerobics classes produce great results for others. If you need to adopt a rigorous fitness regimen or need to see drastic results soon, you can opt for both.
What is the right age to work out?
9 years is an ideal time to start training your children to make exercise a routine.

If you stop exercising completely and eat in the same way you did when you worked out, then you will start putting on weight. Aerobics involves burning fat, strengthen muscles and on toning. Toning ensures that you do not end up with flabby skin. Hence there is no scope of developing flabby skin.

Yes. These problems are caused by weak and/or tight muscles. In fact exercise alone can reduce the pain in such cases without side effects. Our clients who suffered from these problems have benefited completely through our personal training programs.
How is aerobics better work-out than walking or swimming?a
While walking we use the lower body muscles to the maximum and very rarely do we work out any other part of the body. Besides this, the workout is unidirectional whereas aerobic involves working out every part of the body in every possible direction.
Swimming does not use your own body weight unlike aerobics that uses the body’s own weight. Though we might burn more calories swimming, aerobics gives you better results faster.
Is working out and maintaining a controlled diet enough to be in shape?
To add to your work out, it is always better to be active the rest of the time. Small lifestyle changes that add at least some movement for the entire body will add encouraging results to your efforts.
It is alright to give your body rest when you are not well. Don’t feel guilty about missing your exercise in such conditions. You are after all working out to be healthy.
Can I workout when I have periods?a
Yes you can. In fact those who suffered from bad menstrual cramps and have worked out during periods have found that over the months the pain has reduced considerably.
Is exercise the best way to lose weight?
Diet and exercise are the best way to lose weight without any side effects because fat gets metabolized in the presence of oxygen. Oxygen reaches your fat deposits through healthy diet and exercise.
I have a thyroid problem. Will work out help?
Yes. Thyroid is controlled by medication, controlling your diet and getting enough exercise. All these together give very good results.
How much sleep should I get in a day?
6 to 8 hours continuous sleep is required for the body to relax and get ready for another energetic day. Sleeping in installments will not help in the same way.

What kind of sports bra should I wear?
A sports bra from any good brand is always recommended because they give the right fit. You should pick a size that fits you perfectly. If you have very heavy breasts, then it is recommended that you wear your regular bra and wear the sports bra on top of it.
Is it compulsory that I wear a track suit while exercising?
At Dinaz’s we allow workouts in shalwar kameez too. Saris do not allow for free movement and hence not allowed at the studio. But care has to be taken that whatever you wear, whether gym clothes or casuals, the material should be dry-fit material (cottons, track suits). They should be breathe- able clothes.
What personal hygiene should I follow to avoid body odor while exercising?
- If you have a body odor problem you have to take a shower before you go for your workout.
- Use a deodorant before the work out, wear appropriate clothes – dry fit ones while working out.
- Use clean clothes and socks everyday and dry your shoes after the workout.
What kind of shoes should I wear for a workout?
Cross training shoes are the best. Before you buy a pair of shoes check for the following:
- Does it have proper ankle support?
- Does it have a good arch?
- Is the sole the non-skid kinds?
- Does it have a good cushioning?
How much time gap should I maintain before and after I workout to have my meals?
Before work out : After breakfast maintain an hour gap before you workout. If you work out after lunch or dinner, see that you maintain a two hour gap before the workout session.
After work out : You can eat immediately after you workout, provided you stick to your regular portions of food.

How will I know how much I am eating? (How to read food labels)
Most packaged food has food labels on them. Check for two things on the labels:
- - Carbohydrates and fats should be on the lower side.
- - Check the serving size for which they have quoted the content.
What kind of snacks should I munch on if hungry at the movies?
Corn and popcorn are the best options.
I am so used to rice, but want to lose weight. What should I do?
Cut down your rice quantity to half and switch to brown rice. This will help you in a big way.
If I eat two pastries in a day, will I negate the effect by missing out a meal?
No. Your body is programmed to absorb food based on its kind not based on your wish. Your body still retains the fat content of the pastries but by missing out on your meal you are depriving it of the other nutrients. A better option would be to work out to burn as many calories as you have eaten- meaning ‘EXTRA EXERCISE’
WHAT WORKS @ WORK
My work schedule keeps changing every week. What can I do to be in good health?
Disciplined eating habits are a must for you. You also need to learn to switch off and switch on mentally to get your quota of sleep no matter which shift you work. At least 5 days of one-hour workouts is a must to keep up in good health.
I have a desk job, how can I still be active during work?
It is still possible to be physically active even with a desk job. The rule is simple. Every half hour, get up and walk around a bit. There are some exercises you can do right at your desk these are called – Dexercises. Start DEXERCISING at work. (Watch Dexercising Video Now.)
I am very busy and have no time to spare for a separate work out. What should I do?
For those exceptional times when you get really busy and cannot spare time for a workout, make sure that you are still physically very active throughout the day. (Walk more often, take the stairs instead of an elevator, get yourself a glass of water etc).
Should I avoid eating in the nights? Not necessarily. However you should make sure that carbohydrate consumption is kept to the minimum after 5pm and eat light at night.

I can work out paying less at this center near my place. Why should I join Dinaz?
If the trainer is a trained person then that is probably the best option for you. But working out with an untrained trainer can cause injury. Dinaz’s trainers on the other hand can work with anyone, right from a new beginner, to those with medical problems (Eg: Those who are recuperating from cardiac problems). Besides that, our trainers are constantly trained to add variety to your workout routine. There is no scope of making the wrong move with us.
My children are busy with their education and other activities. Will working out interfere with their studies?
Workout helps children relax from their stressed routine. Functional workout which is available at Dinaz’s trains them to be both physically and mentally alert. Hence working out increases their potential for learning and proves to be an enhancer rather than interference.
Why should I consider fitness training as a career?
- It can easily be considered along with your other careers because of the flexibility of the profession.
- It is the only way you a fitness studio will pay you for your workout.
- Trainers who become gym and aerobic trainers can earn upto Rs30,000/- working for just few hours a day. At the beginning of the career itself, by working just 1 hour a day can earn them Rs 3000 to 4500/- . But the place where you get trained will determine how soon you grow as a trainer.
How do I know which program is right for me?
There is no standard answer to this question. Every client has needs that are unique to her and so we offer a personal consultation to help you decide a program that works best for you.
Drop in at any of our centres and meet with our administrator who will conduct a Body Composition Analysis for you. Based on your fitness goals, be it weight loss or body toning, a suitable program is recommended for you.

Do you offer special weight loss programs?
Our aerobics programs are designed to give you a full body workout which will eventually lead to less fat and more muscle in your body. If you’ve opted for personal training with weight loss in mind, then your personal trainer will focus on problem areas of your body to help you burn fat the right way.
Will I have someone to personally supervise my development if I opt for aerobics classes?
Of course! Though aerobics classes happen in groups, the trainer will keep track of your progress by conducting periodic fitness assessments. She or he is also available to speak with you whenever convenient to resolve any questions or issues that you might have.
Do you have a limit on the number of students you take for a group exercise class?
The class strength ranges from centre to centre. Typically, we don’t take more than 20 students in each slot.
What do I do if I want to enrol/renew in a class has reached its maximum strength?
Class enrolments happen on a first-come-first-serve basis. You would need to take the next available class.
Are your programs targeted towards women only? Can men join Dinaz’s?
Yes, almost all our programs are focussed on women. However, the Banjara Hills studio offers aerobics classes for both men and women in three slots – 7.15 am, 10.15am and 6.30 pm. We also offer Personal training for men in our Banjara hills studio only.
Do you have any program for children?
We do offer sports fitness training for children. Contact our administrator to get more details. Based on clients needs, we also offer personal training for children who are obese.
Is there a separate aerobics class for teens?
There are no separate classes for teens.
Do you have male personal trainers?
Yes we do have certified male personal trainers.
Do you offer onsite programs for corporates?
Yes! At Dinaz’s we provide unique corporate fitness and well-being solutions, tailored individually to your company's, and your employees' needs. We offer three types of membership plans – 3-month, 6-month and 1-year – for both group exercise classes as well as personal training. We also have a one-month membership plan but we do not recommend it as it is costlier than other plans and it is not a long enough period for you to see results.

Yes, you can certainly transfer your membership. You need to speak to our administrator since prices are not the same across all 4 centres. However, if you would like to discontinue membership because you’ve not found a convenient location, we cannot refund your membership.
Can I try out a class or a personal training session before I decide to become a member?
Yes, you’re welcome to try out a personal training session or an aerobics class. Contact our administrator for pricing information.
If I also take personal training along with the group aerobics classes, do you offer a discount?
Yes you do get and additional 5% discount on the same.
How do I cancel my membership?
In case you want to cancel your membership, you can do so by informing the administrator of your centre. We do not refund your membership fee.
Can I get a refund if I don’t use my membership package for medical reasons?
No you do not get a refund however you could transfer the same for a later month after you are medically fit to exercise.
Can I transfer my membership to a family member?
We’re sorry but membership at Dinaz’s is non transferable.
How do I freeze my membership for a temporary period – in case of a long vacation or a busy schedule? Can I make up for the missed classes?
In case of aerobics you cannot make up for the classes, but for PTR you may make up for the classes in the same month. If 3 days a week PTR you may make up any other day of the week, if 6 days you could do an extra 30 minutes and make up the same.
How do I know when my membership expires?
Our client representatives will contact you via phone, email or in person to remind you of your membership renewal.
I am already a member, but my spouse/sister/mother also wants to join. Do you have any promotions going on? What will it cost?
Working out with a family member is a great idea! It will help you both get the results you want. If you are nearing the renewal date of your membership, you may qualify for a special family member discount of an additional 5 %. If you are more than two months from your renewal date, visit your closest Dinaz’s studio and speak with a client representative. He or she will provide you with information on any special offers for family add-ons that may be available
What if a class is cancelled – do I get a refund or are they make-up classes?
We do not refund for the class but we reschedule it another day and keep you informed about the change.
Do you give discounts to college students?
We do not offer discounts to college students.
Can I purchase membership as a gift?
Yes, you can buy a Dinaz’s membership as a gift. Just visit a Dinaz’s studio and speak with an administrator to learn more.

How do I schedule or cancel an appointment with my trainer?
For scheduling purposes, you must cancel a scheduled training session 24 hours in advance. If you don't show up or cancel your appointment less than 24 hours before your appointment, you will be charged for the session. If you're unable to keep an appointment, please contact your personal trainer or the administrator to reschedule.

I would like to become an aerobics instructor. Do you offer any training programs?
Yes, we regularly conduct instructor courses. You can do a basic course in less than three months’ time. A Dinaz’s certified fitness expert is highly respected in the fitness industry. Please contact our administrator at (040) 23314607 for more details.

Is there a dress code for working out?
You should wear clothes that allow your skin to breathe, and you to move freely. Light tracksuit and a t-shirt with a good pair of sneakers will be good.

Starting from the age of 25, average person loses one pound of muscle per year. While muscle keeps decreasing, fat is gained on the other hand. What exercise you did at 24 is not enough when you get older at 30. You will find yourself gaining weight despite your exercise routine, in most cases.
But you can slow down that muscle-loss by weight training/strength training. It can replace muscle loss over the years. Age does not matter. Research indicates that senior citizens also are able to add muscle tissue at about the same rate as younger adults. You may even be able to gain muscle, depending on your initial fitness and how hard you work out. Remember to back it up with proper healthy nutrition and lifestyle. Strengthening your muscle will improve your metabolic rate too!
